Asking for Directions

Basic Directions

sigue derecho/recto (go straight) dobla/gira a la derecha (turn right) dobla/gira a la izquierda (turn left) da la vuelta (turn around) cruza la calle (cross the street) continúa (continue) camina (walk) ve (go)

Sigue derecho dos cuadras. (Go straight two blocks.) Dobla a la derecha en el semáforo. (Turn right at the traffic light.)

Distance

cerca (near/close) lejos (far) a dos cuadras (two blocks away) a cinco minutos (five minutes away) a pie (on foot) en coche/carro (by car)

Está cerca de aquí. (It's near here.) Está a tres cuadras. (It's three blocks away.) A unos diez minutos caminando. (About ten minutes walking.)

Landmarks

Prepositions of Location

Ordinal Numbers for Directions

Giving Detailed Directions
