Introduction

Talking about your daily routine is one of the first real conversations you'll have in Spanish. It's also a natural way to practice reflexive verbs — because most daily actions (waking up, showering, brushing teeth) are reflexive in Spanish.

Morning Routine

  • Me despierto a las siete. — I wake up at seven.
  • Me levanto enseguida. — I get up right away.
  • Me ducho / Me baño. — I shower / I take a bath.
  • Me lavo los dientes. — I brush my teeth.
  • Me peino. — I comb my hair.
  • Me visto. — I get dressed.
  • Desayuno a las ocho. — I have breakfast at eight.
  • Tomo café. — I drink coffee.
  • Salgo de casa a las ocho y media. — I leave the house at 8:30.

Notice: Most morning actions use reflexive verbs (me despierto, me levanto, me ducho, me visto). The action is done to yourself.

Midday

  • Llego al trabajo / a la escuela. — I arrive at work / school.
  • Trabajo desde las nueve hasta las cinco. — I work from nine to five.
  • Almuerzo a la una. — I have lunch at one.
  • Tomo un descanso. — I take a break.
  • Hago ejercicio. — I exercise.
  • Voy al gimnasio. — I go to the gym.

Evening Routine

  • Vuelvo a casa. — I come back home.
  • Preparo la cena. — I prepare dinner.
  • Ceno a las ocho. — I have dinner at eight.
  • Lavo los platos. — I wash the dishes.
  • Veo la televisión. — I watch TV.
  • Leo un libro. — I read a book.
  • Navego por internet. — I browse the internet.
  • Me relajo. — I relax.

Bedtime

  • Me pongo el pijama. — I put on my pajamas.
  • Me lavo los dientes. — I brush my teeth (again).
  • Me acuesto a las once. — I go to bed at eleven.
