Key Question: "¿A qué te dedicas?"

Most common way to ask about someone's job:

"¿A qué te dedicas?" (What do you do? - literally "What do you dedicate yourself to?")
"¿En qué trabajas?" (What do you work in?)
"¿Cuál es tu profesión?" (What's your profession? - formal)

Answering About Your Job

Formula 1: Soy + profession (no article!)

"Soy profesor" (I'm a teacher)
"Soy médico" (I'm a doctor)

Formula 2: Trabajo como + profession

Gender Agreement with Professions

Pattern 1: -o/-a Change

Most professions ending in -o change to -a for women:

médico → médica
enfermero → enfermera
ingeniero → ingeniera
abogado → abogada

Pattern 2: Same Form for Both

Professions ending in -ista, -nte are the same:

Note: Only the article changes (el/la), not the word!

Pattern 3: Irregular Forms

Some have special feminine forms:
