Comparative of Superiority

más + adjective/adverb + que: Es más alto que yo. (He's taller than me.) Habla más rápido que tú. (He speaks faster than you.) Esta casa es más grande que la otra. (This house is bigger than the other.)

Comparative of Inferiority

menos + adjective/adverb + que: Es menos caro que ese. (It's less expensive than that one.) Corro menos rápido que tú. (I run less fast than you.)

Comparative of Equality

tan + adjective/adverb + como: Es tan alto como su hermano. (He's as tall as his brother.) Habla tan bien como tú. (He speaks as well as you.)

tanto/a/os/as + noun + como: Tengo tanto dinero como tú. (I have as much money as you.) Hay tantas personas como ayer. (There are as many people as yesterday.)

Superlatives

el/la/los/las + más/menos + adjective: Es el más alto. (He's the tallest.) Es la casa más grande. (It's the biggest house.) Son los estudiantes más inteligentes. (They're the most intelligent students.)

el/la/los/las + adjective + más/menos + de: Es el más alto de la clase. (He's the tallest in the class.) Es la ciudad más bonita de España. (It's the prettiest city in Spain.)

Irregular Comparatives

bueno → mejor (good → better): Este libro es mejor que ese. (This book is better than that one.)

malo → peor (bad → worse): Esta película es peor que la otra. (This movie is worse than the other.)

grande → mayor (big → bigger/older): Mi hermano es mayor que yo. (My brother is older than me.) But: más grande (physically bigger) Esta casa es más grande. (This house is bigger.)

Spelling Changes with -ísimo

-co → -quísimo: rico → riquísimo poco → poquísimo

-go → -guísimo: largo → larguísimo

-z → -císimo: feliz → felicísimo

-ble → -bilísimo: amable → amabilísimo

verb + más/menos + que: Estudio más que mi hermano. (I study more than my brother.) Duermo menos que tú. (I sleep less than you.)

Expressing "The More... The More"
