Basic Comparatives

More/Less than: más + adjective/adverb + que (more... than) menos + adjective/adverb + que (less... than)

Este libro es más interesante que ese. (This book is more interesting than that one.) Trabajo menos horas que tú. (I work fewer hours than you.)

Equal Comparisons

tan + adjective/adverb + como (as... as) tanto/a/os/as + noun + como (as much/many... as)

Ella es tan alta como su hermana. (She's as tall as her sister.) Tengo tantos libros como tú. (I have as many books as you.)

Irregular Comparatives

bueno → mejor (good → better) malo → peor (bad → worse) grande → mayor (big → bigger/older) pequeño → menor (small → smaller/younger)

Este restaurante es mejor que el otro. (This restaurant is better than the other.) Mi hermana mayor vive en Madrid. (My older sister lives in Madrid.)

Superlatives

el/la/los/las + más/menos + adjective + de

Es el edificio más alto de la ciudad. (It's the tallest building in the city.) Son los estudiantes más inteligentes de la clase. (They're the smartest students in the class.)

Absolute Superlatives

Add -ísimo/a/os/as to express "extremely":

grande → grandísimo (extremely big) feliz → felicísimo (extremely happy) mucho → muchísimo (very much)

Estoy cansadísimo. (I'm extremely tired.)

Number Comparisons

más de + number (more than) menos de + number (less than)

Hay más de 100 personas. (There are more than 100 people.) Tengo menos de 20 euros. (I have less than 20 euros.)
