Essential phrases for coordinating social activities, extending invitations, and making plans with friends.

Inviting Someone

¿Quieres ir a...? (Do you want to go to...?) ¿Te gustaría...? (Would you like to...?) ¿Qué te parece si...? (How about if...?) ¿Tienes planes para...? (Do you have plans for...?) Te invito a... (I invite you to...) ¿Por qué no vamos a...? (Why don't we go to...?)

¿Quieres ir al cine este viernes? (Do you want to go to the movies this Friday?)

Suggesting Activities

Podríamos ir a... (We could go to...) ¿Qué tal si vamos a...? (How about we go to...?) Se me ocurre que... (It occurs to me that...) ¿Y si...? (What if...?)

¿Qué tal si vamos a cenar? (How about we go to dinner?)

Accepting Invitations

¡Claro que sí! (Of course!) ¡Me encantaría! (I'd love to!) Sí, con gusto. (Yes, with pleasure.) Perfecto, ahí estaré. (Perfect, I'll be there.) Buena idea. (Good idea.) ¡Dale! (Sure! - Latin America) ¡Vale! (OK! - Spain)

Declining Politely

Lo siento, no puedo. (I'm sorry, I can't.) Me gustaría, pero... (I'd like to, but...) No voy a poder. (I won't be able to.) Tengo otros planes. (I have other plans.) Estoy ocupado/a ese día. (I'm busy that day.) Quizás en otra ocasión. (Maybe another time.)

Suggesting Alternative Times

¿Qué tal otro día? (How about another day?) ¿Te viene bien el sábado? (Does Saturday work for you?) ¿Prefieres la tarde o la noche? (Do you prefer afternoon or evening?) ¿A qué hora te va bien? (What time works for you?)

Setting Time and Place

¿A qué hora quedamos? (What time shall we meet?) ¿Dónde nos vemos? (Where shall we meet?) Nos vemos a las 7. (We'll meet at 7.) Te veo en... (I'll see you at...) ¿Te parece bien a las 8? (Is 8 OK with you?) Quedamos en la plaza. (Let's meet at the plaza.)

Confirming Plans

¿Entonces quedamos mañana? (So we're meeting tomorrow?) Confirmado. (Confirmed.) Perfecto, nos vemos allá. (Perfect, see you there.) Te mando un mensaje antes de salir. (I'll send you a message before leaving.)

Canceling or Changing Plans

Tengo que cancelar. (I have to cancel.) ¿Podemos cambiar la hora? (Can we change the time?) Surgió algo. (Something came up.) No voy a poder llegar a tiempo. (I won't be able to arrive on time.) Voy a llegar un poco tarde. (I'm going to be a little late.)

Being Spontaneous

¿Estás libre ahora? (Are you free now?) ¿Hacemos algo? (Shall we do something?) ¿Salimos? (Shall we go out?)

Group Plans

¿Vamos todos juntos? (Are we all going together?) Invité a María también. (I invited María too.) ¿Quién más va? (Who else is going?) Somos cinco en total. (There are five of us total.)
