Transportation Types

Basic Transportation

Examples:

• Voy en avión (I'm going by plane)

Using Transportation Verbs

TOMAR = to take (most common for transportation)

• tomar el autobús (take the bus)
• tomar un taxi (take a taxi)
• tomar el tren (take the train)

IR EN = to go by (general way of traveling)

• ir en avión (go by plane)
• ir en coche (go by car)
• ir en metro (go by subway)

COGER = to catch/take (Spain)

• coger el autobús (catch the bus)
• coger el metro (catch the subway)

VIAJAR EN = to travel by

• viajar en avión (travel by plane)
• viajar en tren (travel by train)

Note: In Latin America, avoid "coger" - use "tomar" instead!
