I'm from Japan. Where are you from?
ser: soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son. Completely irregular — must memorise.
Estoy bien, gracias. ¿Cómo estás?
I'm fine, thanks. How are you?
estar: estoy, estás, está, estamos, estáis, están. Note the accent on all except nosotros/vosotros.
Tengo veinte años. ¿Cuántos años tienes?
I'm twenty years old. How old are you?
yo: tengo (yo-go). 2nd/3rd: e→ie stem change: tienes, tiene, tienen.
Voy al gimnasio cada día. ¿Adónde vas?
I go to the gym every day. Where are you going?
ir: voy, vas, va, vamos, vais, van. Completely irregular. "Vamos" also means "let's go!".
Hago ejercicio por la mañana.
I exercise in the morning.
yo: hago (yo-go). Rest regular: haces, hace, hacemos, hacéis, hacen.
¿Puedes ayudarme? — Sí, puedo.
Can you help me? — Yes, I can.
o→ue stem change in all forms except nosotros/vosotros: puedo, puedes, puede, podemos, podéis, pueden.
Quiero un café, por favor.
I want a coffee, please.
e→ie stem change: quiero, quieres, quiere, queremos, queréis, quieren. Also means "to love" for people.
Vengo de la oficina. ¿De dónde vienes?
I'm coming from the office. Where do you come from?
yo: vengo (yo-go). e→ie: vienes, viene, vienen.
Salgo a las ocho de casa.
I leave home at eight.
yo: salgo (yo-go). Rest regular: sales, sale, salimos, salís, salen.
Pongo la mesa cada noche.
I set the table every evening.
yo: pongo (yo-go). Rest regular: pones, pone, ponemos, ponéis, ponen.
¿Qué dices? No te entiendo.
What are you saying? I don't understand you.
yo: digo (yo-go). e→i stem change: dices, dice, decimos, decís, dicen.
¿Sabes hablar chino? — No, no sé.
Do you know how to speak Chinese? — No, I don't.
yo: sé (accent to distinguish from "se" reflexive). Rest regular: sabes, sabe, sabemos, sabéis, saben.

Vuelvo a casa a las seis.
